Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

SoFocus is developed and operated by Pack6 LLC, a company registered in Jamaica. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Pack6 LLC.

2. What Data We Collect

We designed SoFocus to collect only what is necessary to provide the social accountability experience. Here is a complete breakdown:

Data we collect and store on our servers:

• Your display name and avatar — used to identify you within your squad
• Squad membership — which squads you belong to and your role within them
• Focus session history — session start/end times and duration, used for scoring and leaderboards
• Focus scores and streaks — calculated from your sessions, visible to your squad
• Phone numbers — collected when you invite friends via SMS; used solely to deliver invitations
• Push notification tokens — used to send you squad notifications such as unlock requests and session updates

Data we DO NOT collect:

• Which apps you block or use — Screen Time app selections and usage data are processed entirely on your device by Apple's frameworks and are never transmitted to us
• Your Screen Time settings or restrictions — managed locally by Apple's FamilyControls and ManagedSettings frameworks
• Your contacts list — we only access contacts you explicitly select when sending invites
• Your location, browsing history, or device identifiers
• Analytics, device fingerprints, or advertising identifiers

3. Screen Time & Family Controls

SoFocus uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity) to block distracting apps during focus sessions. It is important to understand how these frameworks handle your data:

• On-device only: All app selection, blocking, and monitoring is performed locally on your device by Apple's frameworks. SoFocus does not receive, transmit, or store any information about which apps you have installed or use.
• Apple's privacy model: The FamilyControls framework uses opaque tokens to represent apps. Even SoFocus cannot see the names or identifiers of the apps you block — only your device knows.
• Authorization: You grant Screen Time authorization voluntarily. You can revoke it at any time in your device's Settings app.
• Device Activity monitoring: The DeviceActivity extension runs on your device to track session timing. This data is used locally to determine when sessions start and end; session duration (but not app-level data) is then shared with your squad.

4. How Your Data Is Protected

• All communication between the SoFocus app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption in transit
• Authentication is handled via Firebase Authentication with secure token management
• Database access is governed by security rules that ensure users can only read and write data they are authorized to access
• Push notification tokens are stored securely and used solely for delivering notifications

5. Data We Store on Our Servers

SoFocus uses Firebase (Google Cloud) to store squad and session data. This data powers the social features of the app:

• Squad data: Squad names, member lists, weekly goals, streak counts, and leaderboard rankings
• Session data: Focus session records including timestamps, duration, and completion status
• Invite data: Pending invitations including invitee display names and phone numbers, invitation tokens, and expiration dates
• Notification data: Push tokens and notification delivery records

6. Push Notifications

SoFocus sends push notifications to keep you informed about squad activity, including:

• Unlock requests from squad members
• Squad streak updates
• Weekly leaderboard results
• Invitation acceptance notifications

You can disable push notifications at any time in your device's Settings app.

7. Children's Privacy

SoFocus is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that a user is under 16, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.

8. Third-Party Services

SoFocus does not include any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or social media integrations. The third-party services we use are:

• Firebase (Google Cloud): For authentication, database, cloud functions, and push notifications. Firebase processes data in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
• Apple Push Notification Service (APNs): For delivering push notifications to your device. Apple processes notification delivery in accordance with its privacy policy.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Your squad data, session history, and scores are retained as long as your account is active. To delete your data:

• Delete your account within the SoFocus app to remove all your data from our servers
• Deleting the app from your device removes all local data including Screen Time configurations managed by SoFocus
• Invite records containing phone numbers are automatically deleted after they expire or are accepted

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and review the data we store about you
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Revoke Screen Time authorization at any time
• Disable push notifications
• Contact us with any privacy questions or concerns

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify users through an in-app notice. Continued use of SoFocus after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
